Get involved in supporting the arts!

The arts are essential to Portland, enriching our community, supporting mental health, and fostering educational opportunities. Right now, the future of our city’s theatres — and the multitude of benefits they provide — is at risk. State funding for the arts, totaling $25M, hangs in the balance with House Bill 4124. This bill decides whether or not theatres and cultural institutions will be able to continue bringing art and connection to Oregon cities.

How can you make a difference?

Sign a postcard! With our friends at Portland PlayhousePortland Center Stage & Profile Theatre we’ve created a postcard that details the importance of the Arts in Oregon. We will take all signed postcards to Salem during the Short Session ensuring our impact is both felt and heard.

How to get a postcard to sign

Sending your message is simple. You can pick up postcards at Portland Playhouse, Portland Center Stage, or ART’s office (Suite 200).
You can also print your own letter template at home!

Sign a postcard in support of HB 4124, or grab a few to take home with you. Choose a postcard pre-addressed to four key decision-makers responsible for the fate of HB 4124:

Speaker of the House, Rep. Dan Rayfield, 900 Court St NE, H-271, Salem, OR, 97301
Ways and Means Co-Chair, Sen. Elizabeth Steiner-Hayward – 900 Court St. NE, S-213, Salem, Oregon 97301
Ways and Means Co-Chair, Rep. Tawna Sanchez – 900 Court St. NE, H-273, Salem, Oregon 97301
Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Rob Wagner – 900 Court St. NE, S-201, Salem, Oregon 97301

The legislature holds a lot of power over the future of the arts industry, and so do you. We’ll ensure your messages reach them. Your words will amplify the collective voice, demonstrating the profound impact of art on our lives.

Spread the word

Advocate for the arts by sharing our message. Tell friends, family, and fellow arts enthusiasts about this crucial campaign, and encourage them to mail a postcard themselves. Together, we can champion the essential role of the arts in Portland, and Oregon.

Your impact matters

By taking action, you’re standing up for the arts’ vital role in healing, educating, and enhancing the strength and vibrancy of our communities. Each voice, each message, strengthens our case for continued investment in the arts.
